Ant And Dec Have Had An Incredible Career, And They Deserve It Most

Ant And Dec Have Had An Incredible Career, And They Deserve It Most

Unlike most 'celebrities' these days, the Geordie lads have worked up from humble beginnings to get to where they are.

There's no denying Ant and Dec have had an amazing career, and are easily one of Britain's most famous double acts. But unlike many celebrities these days, they've actually worked bloody hard to get there - which makes the sting of how much they earn a little bit easier to handle.

They had a humble start, but are now worth millions

They've come from humble beginnings, and have had to clamber their way up the showbiz ladder. And now they're at the top they're not doing badly at all.

Their earnings were recently made public, when it was revealed the pair earned £79,000 ($106,000) a day between them last year. Tally that up and that's a massive £29.5 million ($39 million) in a year.

Last year they even signed a deal with ITV worth £30m ($40m) until 2019, which will mark a 21-year relationship with the channel.

They didn't even like each other at first

Most of us know that the duo first met when they starred on Byker Grove together in the late 80s, but what you might not know is that they didn't actually like each other at first.

When speaking on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross back in 2006, Dec admitted: "We didn't particularly like each other at first - I thought he was miserable."

"We've rowed a few times - we're quite competitive," Ant added, but also said that if they hadn't met, he didn't think they'd have got so far.

We've all met someone at work that we just can't stand - you know the ones, who steal your lunch or have a total shit tip of a desk - but most of us don't have the willpower to rise above it like Ant and Dec did, so fair play to 'em.

They're TV veterans

Yep, you may remember them from their very early days on ITV's Saturday morning schedule in SMTV Live and CD:UK alongside Cat Deeley, but before that they were actually over at Channel 4.

In 1998 they had an early-evening children's show called Ant & Dec Unzipped. It wasn't bad, either, even winning a BAFTA, but the show wasn't renewed and so only lasted for one series.

Now, of course, they're over with I'm A Celeb, busy rinsing Dennis Wise and taking the piss out of Z-listers chowing down on animal anuses and live bugs.

Fair play, LADs - it's good to know that behind a strong career are two men who deserve it... unlike some of their jungle co-stars.
