Zach Braff Says He Would ‘Totally’ Do A ‘Scrubs’ Movie

Zach Braff Says He Would ‘Totally’ Do A ‘Scrubs’ Movie

The show hasn't had new material since 2010 and Zac Braff, aka JD, says he has an idea of how to reboot it for a movie

It's been eight long years since fans had to wave goodbye to JD, Elliot, Turk and Neil Flynn's Janitor and the drama that ensued at Sacred Heart teaching hospital. We're talking, of course, about the wild and wonderful world of Scrubs.

The hit TV show hasn't been on the air since 2010 and to be honest, we've been stinging for new material ever since. While the programme wrapped up everything pretty nicely, it seems as though JD, aka Zach Braff, has a storyline in mind to keep the series alive.

Braff sat down with The IMDb Show to talk about his new show Alex Inc and, naturally, was also asked about Scrubs.

They asked whether he'd prefer to see the programme return in TV format or as a movie, Braff opted for the latter.

"I had a whole TV movie pitch for [Scrubs creator] Bill Lawrence," he told Tim Kash and Kerri Doherty.

"I can't tell you because it's part of my pitch, but I told him this whole pitch over dinner and he laughed a lot and said, 'We'll see, we'll see'. I think it would be fun to do a two-hour Scrubs movie - I would totally do that."

Interesting, very interesting.

But don't get too excited as it's not as easy as that.

Donald Faison, who plays Turk, has said in the past how it would take a lot of commitment from everyone for him to be involved in a TV movie reboot.

Speaking to Page Six, the actor said: "It would have to take everybody to come back to do the reboot.

"Not just the cast, but also the producers and the writers to make it work, in my opinion. So, I'm not saying it's not going to happen, but I'm not saying it is either."

It would be interesting to see a 'Where Are They Now' styled Scrubs movie.

The last we saw of JD and Elliot was in 'Our Stuff Gets Real' when the on-screen couple have a baby together.

Turk becomes a visiting professor of surgery at Winston University and he was yet to win over Carla's brother and mother. Janitor leaves Sacred Heart after finding out that JD was indeed gone and wasn't returning.

How did that all turn out for them?

Unfortunately, Braff didn't say whether his pitch for the TV movie was on the horizon or whether it was still just an idea. Either way, he should be aware that we are all patiently waiting.
