Ewan McGregor managed to shock a few fans at the Golden Globes when he thanked his ex-wife and his new girlfriend in his speech. Nice and awkward.

McGregor won best actor in a limited series for his role in Fargo, and, while accepting his award paid tribute to Eve Mavrakis, his wife of 22 years.

He said: "I want to take a moment to just say thank you to Eve, who always stood by me for 22 years, and my four children Clara, Esther, Jamyan and Anouk."

Fair enough, I mean, just because you're separated doesn't mean you have to hate each other, right? However, he then went on to thank the actors he worked with on Fargo, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead - his co-star who he is rumoured to have left his wife for.

Continuing his speech, he said: "And I've always loved being an actor and I love hanging out with actors and I got amazing actors to work with on this.

"There wouldn't have been Emmit Stussy without David Thewlis and Michael Stuhlbarg and Carrie Coon and there wouldn't have been a Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead."

Viewers were surprised at the 'awkward' speech:

Neither McGregor nor Mavrakis have spoken publicly about their split, but according to PEOPLE, split in May last year. McGregor was then spotted kissing co-star Winstead shortly afterwards, but, again, neither of them have confirmed the relationship.

Back in May, Winstead shared a snap of her kissing her husband Riley Stearns, with the caption: We've decided to move on from our marriage, but we will stay best friends and collaborators for all our days. We are still ride or die, just in a different way now. I love you always, Riley."

Stearns replied: "I'll always love you, Mary."
