Harry Styles 'Could Be The Next James Bond'

Film editor Lee Smith reportedly explained if bosses wanted a younger, fresher James Bond, Harry could be perfect for the job.

Daniel Craig's been very vocal about the fact that he absolutely hates being in the James Bond films, having once stated he'd rather 'slash his wrists' than play 007 in another movie. He explained that portraying the iconic character is a lot of physical strain, and there's also the added pressure of having to spend a long time away from his family.

So when he does eventually hang up the tux, who's going to step up to the plate?

Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and James Norton have all been hotly-tipped as potential Bond successors, but according to the Daily Star no one's ruling out the idea of going for someone a bit younger and fresher.

The newspaper says Spectre film editor Lee Smith is backing Harry Styles for the role, reportedly saying: "Harry could do it. If they wanted a younger Bond then why not? He has got it."

If Styles did land the role, he would become the youngest Bond ever.

"Harry is really good and he can go all the way," Smith continued. "He is an exceptional talent and a complete natural on camera.

"You would have thought you were dealing with a guy with many years of experience. You would never know that was his first film. I didn't know who Harry was.

"Of course my daughter explained to me that you don't get any more famous than Harry Styles. But he was really good and a genuinely charismatic fellow.

"If he wants to act, I cannot imagine he would not have a great future."

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

And it's not just the actor playing Bond that's set to change - it's also the director.

Sam Mendes has directed the past two Bond films but wasn't interested in making a third, saying he thinks it's time for someone else to take the helm after the slightly underwhelming Spectre.

And that someone could apparently be Christopher Nolan, who's the rumoured frontrunner. With the Dark Knight trilogy and Inception under his belt among many other classics, he's clearly a man who knows how to make a blockbuster, so it would definitely be a good fit.

Plus, he's worked with Harry before on Dunkirk, meaning that their professional relationship has already got some firm foundations.

Sure, we all love Craig as James Bond, but we also know that the franchise needs shaking up a bit every once in a while. Thing is, he'd be leaving some pretty big boots to fill - so pressure's on for Harry's youthful feet to fill 'em.
