Cameron Diaz has starred in dozens of movies since her break out role in The Mask, but it seems as though she doesn't want to see her name on billboards anymore.

The 45-year-old hasn't personally admitted to the career move away from Hollywood but her The Sweetest Thing co-star Selma Blair has alluded to it.

Speaking at an Oscars pre-party, Blair said: "I had lunch with Cameron the other day, we were reminiscing about the film.

"I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron's retired from acting, she's like 'I'm done'.

"I mean, she doesn't need to make any more films, she has a pretty great life, I don't know what it would take to bring her back."

Producers couldn't get enough of Diaz in the 1990s and 2000s, casting her in blockbuster films such as My Best Friend's Wedding, There's Something About Mary, Bad Teacher, What Happens in Vegas and the Shrek and Charlies Angels franchises.

But to be fair, the Californian-born actor hasn't been in anything since playing Miss Hannigan in the Annie reboot in 2014. She didn't get the best of reviews for that film, described by critic Robert Ebert as the only 'weak link' in the movie's big-name cast.

He wrote: "She lacks the exuberant crudeness and vampy joy that every other Hannigan has brought to the part. Diaz is not slinky enough or desperate enough, and she's too wounded early on, which means we can't be surprised when Hannigan reveals hidden, decent qualities."

Cameron revealed last year that one of the biggest issues with acting isn't the long hours or bad reviews, but the constant travelling.

According to E! News, she told an audience at an In Goop Health event: "I just went, 'I can't really say who I am to myself,' which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole."

There have been people close to Cameron who have said recently that the actor is more focused on spending time with her husband, Good Charlotte member Benji Madden. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she described their relationship like being 'two peas in a pod'.

She said: "We are so different from one another, but we share the same values...We are both just weird enough for each other."

It'd be a shame if she did indeed step away from the limelight, but who knows, maybe there might be script that's just too good to turn down.
