Meryl Streep Becomes Oscars' Meme After Viewers Spot Likeness To 'Shrek' Character

The 90^th Academy Awards are underway over in the US and veteran actress Meryl Streep is up for her 21^st award - I know; mind blowing that, isn't it? Basically, if you want your film to do well, get Meryl Streep in it.

The actress who has won Oscars for best actress twice and best supporting actress once, is up for best supporting actress this year for her role in The Post.

Now, being nominated for 21 awards is an unbelievable achievement, it is, in fact, a record. So fair play.

But viewers watching at home were more interested in the fact that Streep is an absolute ringer for the fairy godmother from Shrek.

It's good to know that while the nominees are sat nervously waiting to see if they've scooped the biggest award in the industry, viewers at home are busy making memes. Makes you proud, doesn't it?

In a bid to keep the Oscar's as short as possible, host Jimmy Kimmel has offered a jet-ski and a holiday to whichever winner gives the shortest speech, not a bad idea at all.
