The fourth season for Peaky Blinders has been under way for four weeks now but Tom Hardy's character, Alfie Solomons, is nowhere to be seen. Leader of a Jewish gang in Camden Town, fans have been waiting in anticipation to see how Solomons will, in no uncertain words, fuck shit up again.

Finally, their prayers have been answered, with the BBC providing an exclusive preview of this week's episode.

The announcement has clearly been well received by some female viewers, with one person exclaiming: "Well hellooooooooooo."

According to the episode's synopsis, 'Dangerous' sounds like a belter. It reads: "The Peaky Blinders are lured by the Italians into a cat-and-mouse chase on the streets of Birmingham, where it becomes clear that Tommy has met his match. Trapped in Small Heath, Tommy tries to console himself with a visit from an old flame but it soon becomes clear that he can't always get what he wants.

"As his factory lies idle, Tommy confronts the possibility that the Communists might win and he will be deemed a traitor to his class. Meanwhile, Changretta prepares to spring another trap."

Hardy's character was last seen in season three cosying up to Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) despite them being previous adversaries. But in a classic double-cross, Alfie tells Father Hughes about a plot to steal Russian jewels and their plan goes tits up.

Tommy and Alfie come face-to-face, however, the Blinders leader can't bring himself to kill his enemy and cracks on with the mission to save his son and break into the Russian vault.

Now that Hardy's character has been reintroduced to the series, maybe he can live up to the hype that was started before the newest instalment kicked off. Programme creator and writer Steven Knight told Digital Spy: "Once again, [Alfie is] going to be a friend and an enemy. You can't trust him, but you can trust him to behave like Alfie Solomons!

"And of course, Tom loves the role, and he really throws himself into it. It's just brilliant to have that presence in the series. But yeah, he's a big part of the series."

Despite them warring on the series, Cillian Murphy has nothing but respect for Hardy as an actor.

The Irishman told Den of Geek: "He's a brilliant man and he's a good pal and I always enjoy working with Tom. When you work with great actors you have to step up and we've always enjoyed that, and I think we work well together.

"And I'm a big fan of his work at the moment. It's always a buzz working with him, he's great."

The new episode, 'Dangerous', will premiere on Wednesday, so only time will tell if Alfie is as badass as he has been since season two.
