Gordon Ramsay is known for shouting expletives across the kitchen, but with his latest transformation he couldn't be further from those foul-mouthed ways - having dressed up as a grandmother. And yes, it's bloody terrifying.

Chef Ramsay donned the get-up for an upcoming episode of American TV series MasterChef Junior, taking inspiration from Robin Williams' cross-dressing Scottish nanny in 1993 film Mrs Doubtfire with a wig, cardi, specs, paisley shirt, long red skirt and even a pearl necklace.

Naturally, the young contestants were pretty baffled as Ramsay hobbled over to them in character, readjusting his fake boobs.

When they clocked who it was, the kids could be seen shrieking 'Ewww, it's Gordon!', which is a fair enough response, really.

"You look like Mrs Doubtfire!" one child yelled.

Others on social media also seemed to agree:

It really doesn't get any less unnerving the more you look at the footage.

His fellow judges Christina Tosi and Joe Bastianich were also in character for the granny-themed episode.

Tosi showed up in a short white wig and a jazzy cold jacket, while Bastianich went all out in a full nun costume - rivalling Gord in the creepiness stakes.

When Ramsay's not busy dressing up as an ageing grandmother to help American kids with their cooking, he also sometimes dishes out advice to young people on Twitter.

When a 17-year-old messaged him about his dreams of getting into the food industry, he got an overwhelmingly nice response.

He wrote to Gordon Ramsay, saying: "I'm 17 and I really like cooking, though I don't really know how to cook. I was thinking of pursuing my dream of being a cook but kind of scared of what my dad will think."

Ramsay replied with some encouraging words, saying: "Always follow your dreams! Don't worry I'll tell your dad!"

The aspiring cook then said: "Thank you Chef Gordon you're a great role model. And thanks to everyone else who responded, this made me want to pursue my dream even more."

Another Twitter user also recently reached out to Ramsay for advice on handling stress, asking: "What do you do when life gets crazy?"

The chef wrote back: "Pause...Process...and value what's important to you! Then speak your mind and make sure they listen."

Solid words. Still ain't got nothing on Doubtfire, though.
