Grimes And Elon Musk Actually Appreciate Your Memes About Their Relationship

While there was a hell of a lot of talk about the Met Gala and what all the celebrities were wearing, (with Rihanna sparking a decent amount of chatter about her on-theme outfit), tons of people were more shocked to learn that Tesla founder Elon Musk is dating synth-pop musician Grimes.

The pair rocked up to the star-studded event being very couplie even though they've only been together for about a month.

In the days since the night, memes have flooded social media comparing Musk and Grimes, real name Claire Elise Boucher, to strange couples from TV shows and movies.

Well, it seems as though Elon and Grimes actually kind of enjoy some of the memes you're coming up with.

This is actually pretty refreshing considering how rare it is for celebrities to interact with meme-culture and shitposting. They probably understand that they're a weird pairing but appreciate the lols nonetheless.

Musk and Grimes might be a better match than people give them credit for - particularly because of their shared interest in artificial intelligence.

According to Page Six, Musk had planned to tweet a joke but discovered that Grimes had already made it and, to rub salt in the wounds, she was three years ahead of him.

The one-liner was about the complications of artificial intelligence.

Let us explain. They were joking (or trying to) about a thought experiment called 'Roko's Basilisk' which is about an all-powerful artificial intelligence from the future that punishes those who did not help bring about its existence.

Elon's joke was to merge this thought experiment with a pun using 'Rococo', referring to the ornate French 18th century baroque style, potentially pointing out that both concepts are too extreme and, well, ridiculous.

Wait, where's the punchline?

As reported by Page Six, in 2015, she created a character named 'Rococo Basilisk' for a video of her song Flesh Without Blood.

She told Fuse: "I don't know if you've heard of Roko's Basilisk.

"[This character] is doomed to be eternally tortured by an artificial intelligence, but she's also kind of like Marie Antoinette."

SpaceX and Tesla founder and all round LAD Musk has been very public in his past fandom for Grimes. He tweeted out her video with Janelle Monae for the song Venus Fly, saying: "Best music video art I've seen in a while."

The tech billionaire also tweeted his approval of her Spotify playlist Go Flex & Psycho. Grimes told him: "Glad ur finally listening to cyberpunk speedwae hahaha." He hit back: "Sounds great riding my cyborg."

Let the memes continue.
