Model and actress Kim Porter has died at the age of 47, according to multiple reports.

She was also known as an ex-partner of P Diddy, having been the mother of three of his children.

P Diddy's rep, Cindi Berger, confirmed Porter's death, telling TMZ: "Sadly, I can confirm the passing of Kim Porter. I ask that you give the families privacy at this time."

Law enforcement sources told TMZ site they had received a call at around midday to her Toluca Lake home, where she was found dead.

According to emergency dispatch audio, the call had come in as a patient in cardiac arrest.

Sources close to Kim have reportedly said she suffered from flu-like symptoms and suspected pneumonia for several weeks.

Another source apparently added that Porter had contacted her doctor yesterday to complain that she still wasn't feeling better.

However, no details have emerged regarding what caused her death.

Porter had been with P Diddy for 13 years, having started dating back in 1994. They had broken up several times in that period, eventually splitting for good in 2007.

Diddy was apparently attracted by Porter because she seemed so different to other women he knew.

"She wasn't like a New York girl," he told Essence in 2009.

"She was Bohemian, mixed with Georgia-peach hospitality. I got the idea she'd like doing stuff like walking barefoot in the grass. I didn't think I could get her to like me."

Together that had three children - twin girls Jessie James and D'Lila, who were born in 2006, and son Christian Combs, who was born in 1998.

Porter also had a son, Quincy, from a previous relationship with music producer Al B. Sure.

Many well-known names from the music industry and beyond have already started to post tributes to Porter.

TV host Wendy Williams tweeted: "I just heard the sad news about Kim Porter. My condolences to Diddy and Kim's families. Rest In Peace."

Sharing a news article about Porter's death, The Roots' Questlove said: "Yo man.... heart goes out to the family."

Broadcaster and former rapper Joe Budden also wrote: "RIP Kim Porter smh."

Rest in peace.
