Showing an unreal capacity to bounce back, comedian Michael McIntyre has been joking about his terrifying mugging experience earlier this week.

The 42-year-old was the victim of a shocking day-time mugging by hammer-wielding men on mopeds while taking his son to school in London.

Joking around with the audience at his gig in Dublin last night he said: "It's lovely here - I flew in this afternoon and I can tell you I am moving here - fuck London.

"It's nice to be alive. It has not been a great week. I'm on edge.

"Yeah, I'm okay. We're okay. I'll be honest, I could have done with you lot, seriously, nine thousand Dubliners."

According to the Mirror, he then put on an Irish accent and continued: "We got your back, we got your back, Who do ye think you're fucking with?"

Before adding: "Unfortunately I was to fend for myself; it didn't go well. Think the film Taken with me as Liam Neeson - the polar opposite.

"It wasn't The Fast And The Furious; rather I was stationary and fucking panicking.

"I was in the car - I couldn't get it started. It is supposed to be fight or flight - I have a new one, just fucking freeze."

He then went on to thank fans for all their support following the incident, telling the audience it was 'touch and go' whether he would go ahead with the gig.

The comedian, who is reportedly worth £38 million, was targeted by the men while in Golders Green with his 10-year-old son Oscar.

The two vandals, dressed all in black and with their faces covered, went at the driver window of McIntyre's £120k Range Rover with a hammer.

It's believed that they demanded his watch, a Rolex worth £15,000,and Michael handed it over.

An eyewitness said McIntyre 'fell from the car' and attempted to put up a bit of a fight.

In photos taken after the incident he could be seen comforting his young son.

Leaving his home yesterday morning, sporting a brand new Rolex, he told the waiting photographers: "Morning, lads. Drama is all over and now it's back to work. Have a great day."
