He's revealed he'll probably quit music once he and Cherry Seaborn start having kids - which could be quite soon.

Unlikely heartthrob Ed Sheeran announced he was engaged yesterday, having popped the question to old school flame Cherry Seaborn.

In a post on Instagram, the singer wrote: "Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx."

And it seems that getting married could be the beginning of the end for the 'Shape of You' singer, who has revealed he'll probably quit music once he and Seaborn start having kids.

"My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids," he told the Daily Star. "I am going to be like, 'I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of.'

"It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, 'I want to be a good father."

Apparently he's already losing interest anyway, having already peaked.

"To be honest, my ambition is dwindling a little bit because I have achieved far more than I thought I ever would," he said.

"I do no know what to do next. I feel like when you play a stadium you cannot play any bigger than that because what do you do? Sell 15 million albums? What do you do on your next album?

"My ambition next is a silly small ambition to write a country music song that goes to number one on country radio in America.

"I know that it is not like playing Wembley Stadium, but for me that is the next thing."

He's also admitted that kids could come along sooner rather than later, telling Aussie radio show The Kyle and Jackie O Show that he wanted to be a dad 'like, last year'.

"I'm ready, let's go - tour bus babies, little fat, chubby babies that just walk around," he added.

It's been quite a whirlwind of a year for Sheeran, who in the past 12 months has not only got engaged to Seaborn, but also didn't do badly with latest album, Divide - selling 432,000 copies in a mere three days, and managing to outsell the entire UK Top 200 twice over.

'Perfect', his song featuring Beyoncé, also topped the Official Single Chart towards the end of December, meaning he managed to bag himself the coveted Christmas number one spot.
