As more and more women step forward with accusations against film mogul Harvey Weinstein, a film critic has spoken out about a positive experience she remembers, involving another big male Hollywood name.

Nell Minnow recalled interviewing David Schwimmer in 2010 about the actor/director's latest film at the time, Trust.

The pair met at a busy restaurant to conduct the interview. However, when the noise grew too loud, former Friends star Schwimmer presented the option of going up to his hotel room to finish the conversation, adding that he would make sure a third person was present.

"I haven't thought of that since it happened but the Weinstein stories made me not just remember it but remember it in an entirely different context as an indicator of the prevalence of predatory behaviour and as an indicator of Schwimmer's integrity and sensitivity," Minow told the Telegraph.

Many of the allegations levelled against Weinstein are reported to have taken place in hotel rooms. The ex-Miramax boss is alleged to have lured victims up to his room to reveal himself, make inappropriate requests and/or demands, and in some cases, even commit acts of sexual assault.

"This wasn't just about his being a good guy who would not have tried anything," Minnow continued.

"He understood what it is like to have to be constantly on the alert and he wanted to make sure I understood I was safe."

She added: "I just want to say thank you. And, also, your movie was very good."

Schwimmer has had a relatively quiet schedule of late, with his last major roles coming in the US crime drama Feed the Beast and the true crime series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, both of which were released in 2016.

In the latter, an dramatisation of the sensational O.J. Simpson murder case of 1994-95, the 50-year-old actor portrayed lawyer Robert Kardashian, which saw him nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Emmy awards.

April of this year saw Schwimmer begin a short-film adaptation of the films of Sigal Avin, which look at male-on-female sexual harassment in the workplace.
