Anyone who has a long-term partner knows that part of the success of any relationship rests on a healthy bedrock of mercilessly taking the piss out of one another.
That certainly seems to hold true in the case of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. They've been engaging in a long-running online trolling war against each other.
The couple, who have two children together, continued their battle when Lively posted a picture, which to the untrained eye would be nothing but adorable, of the two of them at the premiere of new Emily Blunt and John Krasinski film, A Quiet Place.
The sickeningly cute photo featured the couple sharing a moment. Reynolds can be seen smiling at his wife, who has a hand gently placed on the actor's chest.
However, experienced banter merchant Lively captioned the photo: "If there's one thing I'm infinitely proud of in this picture, it's the incredible hair styling that I did on myself."
There's nothing like a little bit of gentle ribbing of your spouse, is there?
This comes a few weeks after Reynolds responded to rumours that he and his wife are struggling to find time to spend with each other. The Canadian actor posted on Twitter: "I wish. I could use a little "me time"".
They're not afraid of going in on each other either. Reynolds joked with late-night talk show host Seth Meyers about how he played Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' at the birth of one of their children, which you'd have to imagine went down a storm.
He described her reaction: "It was like steak knives came out of her eyes,
"She was like, 'Are you fucking kidding me?'"
Lively gives as good as she gets, though. On Father's Day in 2015 she posted a sweet picture of Reynolds carrying one of their kids with the caption: "Happy Fathers Day!!! ... @vancityreynolds Since the day our baby was born, I've felt so strongly in my heart that you were most likely the father."
That's a deep burn.
She has also mocked her husband's baking skills. This Christmas she posted a photo of some pretty weak looking snowman cookies that Reynolds had made and said: "@vancityreynolds made some Christmas cookies... :flushed:
"...He's verrry handsome though"
If you believe everything you read on the internet (and why wouldn't you?) he's not even the most handsome Ryan in Lively's life. She posted a picture with her husband cropped out, standing next to Ryan Gosling that said: "Happy birthday baby".
Despite their online feud, it does seem like they are very happy together. Proving that couples who troll together, stay together. We can all learn something from that.
