Actor Vince Vaughn has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI), Huffington Post reports, following news of his arrest in Manhattan Beach in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Manhattan Beach Police Department confirmed that the 48-year-old had been stopped at a DUI checkpoint located at Prospect Avenue and Artesia Boulevard just outside Los Angeles, and had been taken into custody.

He was arrested for driving under the influence and for resisting, delaying or obstructing officers, Sgt. Matt Sabosky said.

Sabosky added that another unidentified male who had been travelling with Vaughn had also been arrested on charges of obstructing officers, as well as public intoxication.

Another spokesman for the Manhattan Beach Police Department, Sgt. Tim Zins, later clarified that Vaughn wasn't 'fighting with officers', but had been 'delaying the investigation'.

He added: "There was no officer use of force or anything like that."

The Manhattan Beach Police Department has also since released Vaughn's mugshot to the public.

Having been arrested just after 1am and booked just after 4am, CBS reports that both men then left Manhattan Beach Jail at around 7am after posting bond.

LAPD has said that body cameras captured the arrest, but that the video footage was not going to be released.

The Hollywood actor - who has starred in Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, Swingers and The Break-Up, among others - previously found himself on the wrong side of the law following a bar fight in 2001 in North Carolina alongside fellow actors Steve Buscemi and Scott Rosenberg.

Buscemi was reportedly stabbed during the fight and a local resident, Timothy Fogerty, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly stabbed Buscemi several times.

Vaughn's most recent role was in Brawl in Cell Block 99, in which he played a former boxer who'd landed himself in prison, and he also recently starred in the second season of HBO anthology crime series True Detective - which featured Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch and Rachel McAdams in co-starring roles.

The actor will next be seen in forthcoming comedy-drama film Fighting With My Family, which is based on 2012 documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting With My Family, telling the story of WWE wrestler Paige. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson serves as an executive producer and will also appear in the film.

Vaughn is married to Kyla Weber - who was reportedly seen arriving to pick up her husband - with whom he has two children.
