David Harbour 'meets fan' completely unaware that he literally plays him in Stranger Things

David Harbour 'meets fan' completely unaware that he literally plays him in Stranger Things

The actor was delighted when he found out who he was

Stranger Things’ star David Harbour had a wholesome moment with a ‘fan’ who turned out to be his German voice actor.

Harbour has played the role of gruff-on-the-outside-but-soft-on-the-inside Hawkins police chief Jim Hopper in the supernatural drama series since it kicked off in 2016.

While English-speaking Stranger Things fans will be used to hearing Harbour in the role, anyone watching the dubbed German version will be hearing an actor called Peter Flechtner.

And in a sweet clip shared online, the two men meet for the first time at a Stranger Things convention.

In the clip, Flechtner approaches Harbour as any normal fan would before telling him: “I am your German voice.”

A pretty strange thing to have said, but Harbour appears delighted, replying: “No way!” before clapping his hands together and smiling broadly.

Flechtner then puts on a deeper, more gravelly voice, before repeating: “So I’m your German voice.”

After telling Flechtner that he’s ‘amazing’ and ‘so cool’, Harbour shakes his hand and tells him: “Thank you for all you do, I appreciate it.”

Flechtner - who I am sensing is a big fan - then tells Harbour that it’s ‘one of his favourite voices’ to do, prompting more gratitude.

Harbour replies: “That’s so cool. Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I really appreciate you making me palatable for the German audience.”

The pair share a couple more laughs before posing a storm side-by-side as the ‘voice and the real one’, sounds like a good name for a sitcom, to be fair.

The clip, which was filmed last year, has been shared online where the charming interaction has attracted plenty of attention.

Commenting on the clip, one fan said: “That's exactly what we all want to see!”

Another wrote: “It's amazing, they're even visually similar.”

A third said: “It must be such an unforgettable feeling when you meet the actor you are dubbing yourself.”

Someone else wrote: “Wow, both absolute legends! I really got goosebumps.”

Fans of the show may be excited to learn that the Duffer Brothers recently shared a little sneak look at how season five of the popular show plays out.

The official X account for the writers posted a tweet that read: "Season 5. Chapter 1. Scene 1.

“The sound of COLD WIND. GROANING TREES.

“And…

“A CHILD’S VOICE. Singing a familiar song.”

And…. Yep that’s it. That’s how the fifth and final season begins.
