Harry Potter fans jump to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson's defence as JK Rowling says she'll never forgive them

Harry Potter fans jump to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson's defence as JK Rowling says she'll never forgive them

The author says the pair can 'save their apologies'

Harry Potter fans have jumped to the defence of two of the films' stars after JK Rowling said she’ll never forgive them.

The author has made it clear that if either Daniel Radcliffe or Emma Watson ever (surprisingly) went begging her for forgiveness for their support of trans rights, then they’re better off ‘saving their apologies’.

Rowling has faced backlash from several Harry Potter stars (along with many, many others) after sharing her controversial views on the trans community back in 2020.

Having been accused of transphobia over recent years, the multi-millionaire’s latest rant on X explained she was ‘bloody angry’ about the findings of Dr. Hilary Cass’ review of the NHS’ gender identity services for children in the UK.

The Potter creator claimed the findings showed 'kids have been irreversibly harmed', adding: "Thousands are complicit, not just medics, but the celebrity mouthpieces, unquestioning media and cynical corporations."

And while Rowling regularly makes headlines for expressive controversial opinions on trans people having rights, both Radcliffe and Watson have very different views.

The lead star has made his support for the trans community clear, apologising for the 'pain' which the author had caused for people in an open letter for LGBTQ+ organization The Trevor Project.

Watson also voiced her support, urging her trans followers online that she and 'so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are'.

While Rowling continues to spout controversial (and to some, hateful) language, a social media user responded to her: “Just waiting for Dan and Emma to give you a very public apology ... safe in the knowledge that you will forgive them ..."

But she said: “Not safe, I'm afraid. Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women's hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single-sex spaces."

Now, fans are defending the stars, with one writing on X: “JK Rowling and her fans once again throwing Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson under the bus.

"All they did was say 'trans people are valid', Dan even said he respected/owed his career to her, but because they won’t stand with bigotry she’ll happily publicly shame them.”

Another put: “I'm sure Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are devastated JK Rowling won't accept their 'apologies' for not [using] their fame and wealth to s**t on trans people.”

As one wrote: “Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have never once mentioned JK Rowling by name, they've simply expressed allyship and compassion towards trans people and she's taken it as a personal attack on her.

"Says all you need to know.”
