Nick Knowles addresses new look on The One Show after people brand him unrecognisable

Nick Knowles rocked a ‘different look’ on BBC's The One Show

Nick Knowles has revealed the truth behind his new look on The One Show after some people 'seriously couldn’t recognise him'.

The 61-year-old appeared on the BBC show to promote his new travel programme The Mighty Mississippi with Nick Knowles, which follows his journey on the famous river from Minneapolis, in the north, right through to the south to New Orleans.

The upcoming two-part documentary sees him take a dive into culture and food, all while exploring the history of the Mississippi.

But as Knowles was joined on the sofa by Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden, viewers at home couldn't get over his new look. Watch below:

Fans couldn't get over his transformation, with one saying on X: “Nick Knowles is totally unrecognisable #theoneshow."

Another asked: “What happened to Nick Knowles he's unrecognisable?”

While a third joked: “Nick Knowles, presumably plugging 'Deadpool and Wolverine' on the One Show. Looking forward to the multiverse where Wolverine does people's houses up.”

A fourth added: “Bloody hell, Nick Knowles! I could tell it was him by the voice, but when I looked up, I seriously couldn’t recognise him!”

Fans didn't recognise Nick Knowles when he appeared on The One Show to discuss his new Channel 5 programme.

It seems what people were thrown off by was his new, much fuller, beard.

Usually, the TV personality rocks a clean shave, or a bit of a stubble.

"There's an elephant in the room here,” host Alex Jones said. “Nobody's talking about it. There's a new look, Nick, going on well."

"There's two things with it,” he began.

“One is I'm not actually doing any filming for a while. I'm doing some writing and things, and so I had the chance to grow a beard and actually, weirdly for men, you get a chance to grow a beard, [and you’re] like, 'I'll grow one.'

"I can't have a beard like this when I'm filming. So that was one thing.

“And the other thing is a friend asked me to do some acting and, years ago - [...] I've been in TV for 40 years now – when I started out, I started doing a bit of acting, and I've been asked in-between.

“Now I've got a bit of space, so I've said yes to play a part."

Ex-footballer/turned TV host Jermaine Jenas then told him: “Looks alright, Nick! Looks alright.”

Nothing quite like getting a seal of approval from a former box-to-box central midfielder!
