Priscilla Presley speaks out on claims she was ‘groomed’ by Elvis at 14

Priscilla Presley opened up in a new interview

Priscilla Presley has responded to grooming allegations following her relationship with Elvis Presley when she was just 14 years old.

Following Sofia Coppola's upcoming Priscilla movie, the 78-year-old has opened up about claims that the King of Rock and Roll 'groomed' her.

Starring Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, Priscilla is adapted from Priscilla's autobiography Elvis And Me which follows her journey from small-town army brat to global style icon.

However, when the famous pair began dating in 1959, Priscilla was aged just 14 and Elvis was 24.

The couple later tied the knot in May 1967, only to divorce in 1973.

On a recent episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Priscilla explained how she 'never heard the word' at the time.

"I mean, you know Elvis was, like I said, he was very unique, but he was, I don't know about grooming me, I didn't take it at that, I never heard the word," she said.

"I understand, but I was 14 in Germany, and there was always people around, and our talks were yes, private, but he never ever, ever, ever was aggressive, nor did he ever make love to me.

"I was somehow, like I said earlier, someone he trusted to talk to and pour his heart out."

She revealed how the couple would go to the movies every night and get dressed up together.

Priscilla recalled: “It was a different time, it was the early 60s, and I compare this to my mother. My mother, my father was in the military, my mother would dress up for my father every day, when he came home from work, she was dressed up."

She added: "That was, and women were that way, we were, not that it was just for our men, but we took care of ourselves and we wanted to be, when I say we, I include myself."

Also speaking at the Venice Film Festival, Priscilla insisted the pair 'never had sex' when she was 14, and he that did 'not take advantage of her youth'.

She said: "Even though I was 14, I was actually a little bit older in life — not in numbers. That was the attraction. People think, ‘Oh, it was sex.’ No, it wasn’t. I never had sex with him.

"He was very kind, very soft, very loving, but he also respected the fact I was only 14 years old.

"We were more in line in thought, and that was our relationship.”

Priscilla is set to be released in the UK on 1 January 2024.
