A Lot Of People Reckon Gemma Collins Dived On Dancing On Ice

It's a booking for me...

In case you hadn't already noticed - or had something else/better to do with your Sunday evening - Gemma Collins managed to live up to her reputation and took a pretty stunning fall on ITV's Dancing On Ice.

Now, Gemma has previous for this sort of thing. She went down like a sack of spanners through the middle of a Radio 1 Awards show, remember? Whilst that was obviously a complete accident, and an absolutely hilarious one, a lot of people aren't so sure about this one.

OK, let's examine the evidence.

First off, to give her the benefit of the doubt, ice skating is tough. Most of us wouldn't be able to make it through a couple of laps of the local provincial ice rink without measuring the length of ourselves. Gemma had to do a full dance routine.

Secondly, she did seem pretty teary afterwards which - unless she's a better actor than her time on The Only Way Is Essex would suggest - perhaps shows that she was genuinely upset about ruining her routine with a tumble.

However, a whole load of people on the internet aren't so sure. A lot of them have been comparing Gemma's theatrical tumble to that of a professional footballer. Neymar and Jurgen Klinsmann have been mentioned.

One Twitter conspiracy theorist said: "Has Gemma Collins been taking lessons off @neymarjr clear dive! This woman will do anything for a sympathy vote."

Another internet sleuth added: "So my theory, rightly or wrongly, is that Gemma Collins dive was deliberate. She is so manipulate [sic] and attention seeking that nobody can be certain it wasn't. I yearn for the old days when people who worked hard succeeded"

That last one seems a bit unfair, but the person who wrote it is obviously an ice skating expert, so...

A third added: "No place for this kind of thing in the sport. Terrible dive from Gemma Collins."

Yep, you can imagine Mark Lawrenson spitting out his dinner watching it. She's bringing the game into disrepute, Clive.

Anyway, whether or not you agree that she deliberately threw herself to the deck, she obviously did something right. At the end of her routine, which saw her and partner Matt Evers dance to Celine Dion's 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now', Collins was awarded her best marks of the whole series to date.

Perhaps the judges took pity, perhaps they enjoyed the showmanship (show-person-ship?), or perhaps they just thought it was piss funny.

You be the judge.
