The juggernaut that is Netflix is showing no signs of slowing down. It's newest original series Sex Education is being touted as the modern day Skins and it's just announced that 'Baby Shark' will be turned into a TV show.

But the latest news from the streaming service is that it's bringing the legendary video game and movie franchise Resident Evil to the small screen.

Deadline is reporting the iconic zombie series, which started in 1996, will be heading to Netflix.

The team is still looking for a showrunner/producer but the report suggests Constantin Film, which has been behind the film series, will be heading up the project.

The article adds that the show will delve deeper into the world that we find Alice (Mila Jovovich) in. Who is the Umbrella Corporation? How and why did they manufacture the zombie virus? What was life like before the outbreak?

It sounds like it could be the new version of The Walking Dead which digs into each character of who they were before zombies and who they are now, which would be pretty interesting to watch in the Resident Evil universe.

Details of the project are being kept very under wraps at the moment because it's in such early stages so stay tuned.

If you're a massive fan of the Resident Evil franchise you'll be pleased to know the video game reboot that was released this year has been a massive hit.

GAMINGbible's Matthew McGladdery said: "Resident Evil 2 is the perfect mix of stealth, combat, puzzle-solving and conventional (i.e. terrifying) survival. It has its quiet moments, but it also thrives off intense encounters. And not once do you feel safe in its many close-quarter yet seemingly ever-expanding areas. Not once.

"As with most horror games, split-second decision making and stocking the correct inventory are two sides of the same coin.

"But Resident Evil 2 forces you to be extra tactical. It forces you to learn from your mistakes. Because, let's face it, you're going to die, or miss something absolutely crucial to your progression on a first-time-through.

"Resident Evil 2 is the best game of 2019 so far. But could it be the best game of this year?

"Reactions to the remake have come in thick and fast and for comparison's sake, they're mostly at same as 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War reviews."

So: that's quite the high bar set for basically everything else.
