After sadly dying from cancer at the age of 69 at the beginning of last year, Alan Rickman has been named the best English actor of all time.
The poll, which rated 'Male actors from England, dead or alive', took into account the entire body of work for each. People were asked to add their favourite actors to the list, before others could vote for themselves to contribute to the ranking.
Rickman is in the coveted top spot and is known for his roles in Die Hard, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Sweeney Todd, Love Actually, Dogma and Truly, Madly, Deeply.
Not forgetting, of course, the Harry Potter franchise, in which he portrayed Severus Snape. He did such a good job that we're not sure there's anyone else who could've done it.
In the respectable runner-up slot is Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen, whose pal, Sir Patrick Stewart, also features on the list at number six. Meanwhile, Sir Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Daniel Day-Lewis have come in at number three, four and five respectively.
The highest rated of the list are mostly pretty old school actors with huge back catalogues of great films, like Christopher Lee (7), Laurence Olivier (10), Ben Kingsley (15), Cary Grant(16), Richard Harris (21), John Cleese (23) and even Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Alec Guinness (9).
But one of the biggest wildcards is Theo James. Who the fuck is that? Our point exactly. He played David in Underworld: Awakening and its sequel, Underworld: Blood Wars and James in The Inbetweeners Movie, as well as starring in the Divergent series as Tobias 'Four' Eaton.
Okay, fair play, the guy's got some strong flicks behind him, but still a bit controversial given that he's nestled between Christopher Lee and Alex Guinness at number eight.
Others on the list include Sherlock hero Benedict Cumberbatch (25) and his co-star Martin Freeman (27), The Wire's Idris Elba (33), Peaky Blinder Tom Hardy (39), Gollum's human form, Andy Serkis (60), Doctor Who actors Peter Capaldi (79) and Matt Smith (82), mums' favourite Colin Firth (17), Kidulthood creator Noel Clarke (96) and even musician David Bowie (67). Professional 'ardnut Vinnie Jones also slides in at the end at number 100.
Not a bad list, is it?
