Carrie Fisher's French Bulldog Gary has his own Instagram account with 141,000 followers, but while most of the posts are adorable shots of the pooch, the latest one was a tear-jerker.

The world received the latest look at the new Star Wars movie (which was fucking amazing) as a picture of Gary Fisher was uploaded, watching his 'mom' reprise her iconic role as Princess Leia.

The caption reads: "Just watched the new trailer of The Last Jedi and my mom looks more beautiful than ever."

That caused a flurry of messages from fans, with one person saying: "Best of the best. Puppy probably wonders: 'Mom, when u coming home?'"

While another wrote: "I burst into tears when I saw her. I am going to be a blubbering mess when I go see this movie. Carrie would have been so happy with how she looks here. R.I.P beautiful Carrie."

Carrie Fisher died on 27 December last year, after finishing the European leg of her book tour. While the death certificate indicated she suffered a cardiac arrest, a follow-up report added that sleep apnoea and a build-up of fatty tissue on the walls of her arteries contributed to her death. There are reports from TMZ that Gary was with her when she fell ill.

The day after her death, Gary Fisher tweeted: "Saddest tweets to tweet. Mommy is gone. I love you @carrieffisher"

The loyal Frenchie was never far from her side and even appeared at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere in 2015. She told the Herald Tribune that Gary also acted as a therapy dog: "Gary is mental also. My mother says Gary is a hooligan. Gary is like my heart. Gary is very devoted to me and that calms me down. He's anxious when he's away from me."

Following her death, animal rights group PETA issued a statement, saying: "It was the love of her dog, Gary, that helped her cope with her bipolar disorder. He was not only her constant companion but also her 'date' to red carpet events.

"Fisher will always be remembered for her sensational talent, passion, and honesty as well as her love for her dog and dedication to helping others."

Gary's Instagram continues to operate, regularly posting hashtags like #garymisseshismom and #garyloveshismom. The Hollywood Reporter claims that Gary was being cared for by Carrie's daughter Billie Lourd, who already owns a Frenchie named Tina. However a separate article from TMZ says the French Bulldog is now under the care of the actress's assistant Corby McCoin.

No doubt he'll walk the red carpet for Star Wars: The Last Jedi when it's released on 15 December, and wag his tail like no tomorrow when Carrie appears on screen.
