It's been a tough time for Ant McPartlin, but the missing half of the country's favourite Geordie duo will return to I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here for its next season.

He's set to join Declan Donnelly once again in Australia, after last year's run saw Ant taking a year out from work to recover.

The TV presenter went into rehab for the first time in 2017 after battling alcohol addiction, before being involved in a car crash in March the following year.

He had taken a corner at speed while driving more than twice over the legal limit, and eventually pleaded guilty to drink driving - getting a 20-month driving ban and a hefty £86,000 fine.

In August, Ant announced he would be taking a break from his TV duties until 2019, saying: "My recovery is going very well and for that to continue, having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off."

Holly Willoughby stepped in to fill his shoes in the jungle, with Rochelle Humes taking her place on the This Morning sofa with Philip Schofield.

After a rocky start, Holly proved to be a hit with viewers. She and Dec have been good friends for years - and it showed with their on-screen chemistry - but it's thought that she won't be returning to I'm A Celeb next year.

The show's director confirmed the news himself at a BAFTA masterclass, revealing that Ant & Dec will present the show together again.

Director Richard Cowles said: "We love what Holly did, but we're very much looking forward to Ant coming back and I think it's going to be an amazing series.

"I think the job is for us to create a series and cast where everyone wants to come back and watch more, so I'm not worried [about ratings]."

"I'm looking forward to seeing Ant and Dec back again."

Ant also made an emotional return to Britain's Got Talent back in January, where he welled up after receiving a standing ovation back to the stage.

Prior to this, Dec had helmed the series alone for the first time since its inception in 2007, so was also visibly made up to have his partner in crime back.

Even Simon Cowell managed to be nice to him, saying: "Ant, welcome back. We missed you; it wasn't the same. I mean even though Dec was brilliant, it still wasn't the same."

The pair started their career together back in 1996 when they played PJ and Duncan in kids' TV show Byker Grove. Since then they've gone on to release a load of hit singles as well as presenting some of the biggest shows in the UK.

We're glad he's made a full recovery and is back on his feet.
