Avengers: Endgame Will Be Released Exactly Seven Years After The Original Film

Looks like this had this all planned out from the moment the Avengers first assembled on the big screen

It's one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year, set to break box office records with the biggest opening weekend in US history.

We are, of course, talking about Avengers: Endgame. The follow-up to 2018's wildly successful Infinity War, this next instalment will see the remaining superheroes trying to rectify the catastrophe caused by the maniacal Thanos' almighty finger snap.

And it turns out the release of the film is set to mark an interesting peak in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it will be released on 26 April 2019 - exactly seven years after the first Avengers movie was released back in 2012.

While you might think this is simply down to some seriously strategic scheduling, there are many clues in the previous films to suggest that the production team had the entire saga mapped out from the very moment the Avengers first assembled on the big screen.

It all started during the closing scenes of The Avengers, when we meet Thanos himself for a brief but significant moment. While many were left wondering just who the heck was that purple gentleman and why was he smiling, in retrospect, we can now look back and realise that this was just a taster of what was to come from the evil titan.

Jump forward to Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and, as Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) reveals he's been working on the synthetic being Ultron while discussing his fears and limitations with his fellow Avengers, he says, "That up there, that's the endgame. How are you guys planning on beating it?"

At the time we thought nothing of it, but looking back we can see that the Marvel bosses must've had the name for the upcoming film in their heads way before production had even started.

This was further cemented in Infinity War during the scene in which Doctor Strange trades the Time Stone with Thanos in order to spare Stark (risky move, indeed).

After the deal, he remarks to his ally, "We're in the endgame now."

Turns out he was right - we are in the endgame now and it's only a matter of time before we get to find out how the epic conclusion to this seven-year-long plan is going to play out.

In the meantime, we've got Captain Marvel to look forward to to look forward to, set for release on 8 March 2019 - another instalment to add to the ever-growing tapestry that is the MCU.
