You'd think after creating two of the biggest TV shows on the planet, you could relax with your millions and enjoy retirement. But Matt Groening isn't that type of guy and has signed on to do a new show which seems a bit different from what we're used to.

Netflix has ordered 20 episodes, spanning two seasons, from 63-year-old Groening, for a show titled Disenchantment. According to a statement, the show will be 'an adult animated comedy fantasy series'.

It adds: "Viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci."

Ok, well it appears that it still has the central theme of heavy drinking that we see from Homer in The Simpsons and Bender in Futurama.

"Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and a lot of human fools," the statement continues.

The lead character, Bean, will be voiced by Abbi Jacobson, who is one part of the incredible comedy duo from Broad City. Nat Faxon plays Elfo, and you will have seen him in Ben and Kate and Married, but also heard him in several episodes of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show.

But viewers will also get to hear characters voiced by Billy West, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche and David Hoffman.

People on social media are pretty excited to see how this turns out.

Netflix says the first 10 episodes will air next year, but there's no details on when season two is premiered. The streaming service's vice president, Cindy Holland, says: "Matt Groening's brilliant work has resonated with generations around the world and we couldn't be happier to work with him on Disenchantment.

"The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it's a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans."

It will have to do well to grab the attention of viewers, with Netflix already hosting incredible adult animation shows like Rick and Morty, F is for Family, Bojack Horseman and Castlevania.

But considering that Matt created The Simpsons and Futurama, it's a pretty safe bet that this will be brilliant.
