Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki and Alaina Meyer Expecting Baby

While we're all still trying to get over the fact that The Big Bang Theory is no more, one of its stars has revealed that congratulations are in order, as he is expecting his first baby.

Actor Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter in the sitcom, has posted the news on Instagram, sharing two photos of himself with his 21-year-old girlfriend, Alaina Meyer.

Johnny, 44 wrote the caption: "We are absolutely over the moon to announce that we will soon be welcoming a little one into this crazy and wonderful world."

He added: "We ask that you please respect our privacy during this celebratory time for us and our families. There truly is love out there for all. We hope ours is the ember of yours, as we feel yours is the ember of ours."

Alaina posted the same image on her account, writing: "So happy to announce that we are having a baby!

"There couldn't be a better blessing in the world for us and we are over the moon happy. We appreciate as much privacy in this time as we are celebrating with close friends and family, and we are happy to share the news with you."

Although they haven't been together that long, having only gone public with their relationship in September 2018, the pair both seem completely loved up and excited at the prospect of becoming first time parents.

Johnny previously dated Big Bang co-star and on-screen girlfriend Kaley Cuoco. The pair split after two years, with Kaley going on to marry tennis player Ryan Sweeting.

Earlier this week, she posted pictures of the cast on set, filming the final scene. Fans were left gutted when producers of the popular sitcom confirmed the latest series would be the final one after 12 years on our screens.

But Kaley's recent Instagram post has really made it hit home that it's the last we'll be seeing of our favourite gang. In the post, we see Penny, Raj, Howard, Sheldon, Amy, Leonard and what we presume must be Bernadette, having one final hug together on set.

Kaley, 33, shared the post with the caption: "Final group scene. That's a wrap."
