Buzz From 'Home Alone' Explains How His Later Life Turned Out

Things got darker for Kevin McAllister's older brother

It's difficult to believe, but it's now over 27 years since the first Home Alone film hit cinema screens around the world, and we were introduced to some characters we would spend the next few years growing up with.

Most famously, we followed the adventures of protagonist Kevin McAllister, as he foiled the self-proclaimed 'Wet Bandits', Harry and Marv. But the cast also included a variety of memorable characters in smaller roles - including Kevin's dickhead older brother Buzz.

The classic Hollywood bully, his main role was to humiliate the younger McAllister - and yet invariably, Kevin would be the one who'd take the flak. Well, we did say he was a dickhead. But have you ever wondered how Buzz turned out in life? Wonder no more - he's told us himself, and it's darker than you might have imagined.

The young lad's troublemaking shenanigans have led many fans to ponder what he might be getting up today, and on a DVD extra uncovered by Franco Gucci at Moviepilot, several of the cast and crew of the original film have a go at speculating for themselves.

Guesses ranged from him being a surfer to being in banged up in prison.

"He's gotta be serving time somewhere for some offense. God knows it could be anything," said Freddie Hice, a stunt coordinator. Meanwhile, executive producer Scott Rosenfelt guessed: "[He's] either in Iraq, Afghanistan, on a police force somewhere or in jail."

But that's all just conjecture and thankfully Buzz himself - or Devin Ratray, the actor who played him, at least - was on hand to fill us all in on what he thought his character would be getting up to as an adult.

"I dropped out of high school my senior year and I ran off with Old Man Marley to join the circus," he explained. "And I did end up in prison just like everyone thought for putting a donkey in a bathtub in the state of Iowa."

However, the troubled youngster did manage to get something positive out of his time behind bars.

"While I was in jail, I finally ended up getting my PhD in marine biology and I am now the first marine biologist to identify and explain what trout sniffers are in the Mideast Atlantic. So yeah, I've been busy."

But it turned out that a career in marine biology just wasn't really what Buzz wanted from life, so he turned his attention towards his true calling and followed his dreams.

"I'm touring as Elvis. Not really as Elvis, just a one of his impersonators. I'm actually an Elvis impersonator impersonator. I impersonate Elvis impersonators."

So, there you have it. Still though, it looks like he's faring better than his little brother, who appeared in comedy web series DRYVERS and appeared to still be suffering from the traumatic events that took place in the movies:

Well, if you leave your kid alone in a house for a week over Christmas, it's probably not going to do him any favours. No surprises there.
