Charlie Brooker Says There Could Be Sequels To ‘Black Mirror’ Episodes

Brooker has dropped massive hints that sequels to previous episodes are a big possibility

The fact that every Black Mirror episode is standalone is brilliant. With each set in its own little world with different characters and completely unique narratives, you can pick and mix what you watch, depending on the mood you're in and the vibe you're after.

It means everyone's got their favourites: most people may love 80s romp San Junipero (a bit overrated IMO), but I'm more into The Entire History of You (tres chilling, no?), Nosedive (so kitsch!) or Hang the DJ (definitely relatable for anyone on Tinder).

However, while the format is good for dipping in and out of each series, it does mean that we're forced to move on to a whole new set-up each time - leaving us wondering, for some episodes, about whatever happened next.

Well, it turns out creator Charlie Brooker is up for potentially revisiting some of those tales - having dropped massive hints that sequels to previous episodes are a big possibility.

In Inside Black Mirror, a new companion book to the series, Brooker revealed his ideas for potential follow-ups to former episodes.

This includes Return to White Bear, a sequel to 2013 episode White Bear, which starred Lenora Crichlow as Victoria Skillane.

In the original episode, Skillane gets her memory wiped every day... which obviously would suck. But for the updated story, she would become aware of the process.

"That was something we discussed at the time, as a potential expansion of the story," he said.

"What if she becomes aware that this is going on, and starts rebelling against it?"

Brooker also said he'd be up for returning to San Junipero, but would have to focus on new characters instead of Yorkie (Mackenzie Davis) and Kelly (Gugu Mbatha-Raw).

"I wouldn't necessarily want to revisit those characters, because we're very happy with where they ended up and their story," Brooker explained.

"But that's not to say that we couldn't revisit that world, if there was a compelling reason to do so."

Speaking on Good Morning Britain yesterday, Brooker also teased a little more information - both about the show and its book.

Teasing us about new episodes, Brooker said: "There's some more coming up, but I'm not allowed to talk about those."

He added: "Each one is in individual little movie, and so a lot of it is to do with a surprise. That's why we've done a book because there's a lot to say about the existing ones."

JUST HURRY UP AND DROP THE NEW EPSIODES ALREADY.
