You might be wondering, how is it possible for Olivia Crain to return to the sequel of The Haunting. First of all, and kind of quite importantly, she's dead.

Also, it was announced that Season 2 - titled The Haunting of Bly Manor - will be an all-new story. However, don't let that fool you because apparently Carla Gugino, who played Olivia Crain, is 'talking a lot' with creator and director Mike Glanagan.

Speaking to TheWrap, Gugino said: "Well, I can't say anything definitive at this point, other than Mike and I really love collaborating and working together and any opportunity where a schedule allows for us to do that, we will, and I would be honoured to.

"So we're talking a lot about it and we'll just see if all schedules allow. All I can say is I'm very excited for Season 2 and to see what Mike does."

This isn't the first time she's spoken about making an almighty comeback because she told the Hollywood Reporter: "Mike Flanagan said he would be interested in the notion of an anthology, where some actors come back to play different characters.

"I think he feels like he has told the complete story of the Crain family. But if I was invited and I was able to, I would really love to, just because I do love to collaborate with him."

The second name flying around is that of Oliver Jackson-Cohen who said he would 'get shot' if he confirmed his possible return one way or another.

He, rather dramatically, explained: "I will get shot if I ever answer that question (returning to the show). I would love to answer that question.

"All I can say is that Bly Manor is going to be incredible. It's a very, very exciting story, from what I've heard."

The first series of the horror was based on Shirley Jackson's 1959 novel. It was released in October and received rave reviews from people who quite clearly like being freaked out.

Indeed, there were reports of people passing out watching the show, while cast members said they were seeing things and struggling to sleep during filming.

TheWrap reported that The Haunting of Bly Manor - which doesn't have a release date at the moment - will be based on Henry James' horror novella, The Turn of the Screw.
