Good news, guys, Fox has brought forward the release of Deadpool 2 by two weeks.

The film was initially set to drop on 1 June, however, the film's star - and producer - Ryan Reynolds teased the new date, 18 May, on Twitter today.

The release date's move comes less than a month after Fox's entertainment assets were bought out by Disney in an eye-water $52 billion (£39 billion) deal. And it looked as though Deadpool/Ryan was happy about it:

As ever, details on Deadpool 2 are closely guarded, but the first official trailer looks amazing.

Filming for the Marvel movie wrapped in October last year. To celebrate finishing shooting his movie, Deadpool 2 lead Reynolds posted to Facebook, writing: "That's a wrap on DEADPOOL 2: A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE!

"Thank you to our beloved Captain, Mr. David Leitch... words are too clumsy to properly acknowledge your giant heart and talent. I love my hometown of Vancouver and our obscenely gifted crew.

"From our PA's, (who are first in and last out) to our set decorators and prop departments, riddling this film with Easter Eggs in almost every scene... Thank you. I already miss being on set.

"Which is why I've decided to continue shooting the film in my underwear from Josh Brolin's well appointed living room. #MaximumEffort"

As well as seeing Reynold's reprise his role as Deadpool, the new movie also stars Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz and Morena Baccarin.

The original movie was a huge hit for Fox, earning $783.1 million (£578 million) worldwide after its release in 2016 - making it the most successful R-rated movie of all time. Pretty bloody impressive.

If the sequel is anything like as good as the first one, we're all in for a treat, and thanks to the new release date we don't have quite as long to wait.
