Deadpool 3 Has Started Development And Will Go In 'Different Direction' To First Two Films

Ryan Reynolds didn't say when we can expect the film on the big screen.

There was so much hype and media attention paid to Deadpool 2 before it was released last year that some fans might have been sick of seeing Ryan Reynolds pop up on their social media feed all the time.

Yeah right.

Well if they were then they'll be pleased that it will start all over again with news that the third instalment to the Deadpool franchise has started development.

Reynolds, who plays the kickass superhero, revealed the news during a press conference in China where he was releasing a dulled down, family friendly version of the sequel called Once Upon a Deadpool.

When pushed for any sly details, Variety reports the Canadian actor only had this to say: "[The producers and writers are] looking to go in a completely different direction."

He added: "Often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late."

Does that mean Deadpool's character arc changes or does this make room for other superheroes?

Giving us major squad goals.

In the sequel, Deadpool assembled a team called X-Force, consisting of Domino, Bedlam, Shatterstar, Zeitgeist, Vanisher, and Peter.

Hilariously, all but the Merc with a Mouth and Domino were killed in ridiculous ways.

At the end of Deadpool 2 a new X-Force was created, including Cable (Josh Brolin), Domino (Zazie Beetz), Firefist (Julian Dennison), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Colossus (Stefan Kapičić) and of course taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni).

There has already been talk about a standalone movie based on the X-Force, which would work in a similar way the Avengers franchise operates in between the Thor, Iron Man and Captain America movies.

In a recent Screenrant interview with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick said: "According to the chronology we've established, X-Force will be next, before Deadpool 3."

Rhett went on to state: "X-Force isn't being written by us. It's being written and directed by Drew Goddard [who penned Marvel's Daredevil series and 2015 movie The Martian], or at least that's the plan right now. We're not involved with that one.

"We do anticipate there will be a Deadpool 3 at some point, but it's just a little premature, because it will definitely take a backseat to X-Force for the time being."

Paul chimed in with: "We're constantly in touch with Ryan (Reynolds), and we're always throwing ideas back and forth via text and phone conversations. So, it's always at the front of our minds. We'll get there when the time is right, but as of right now, X-Force is next up."

At least development has started for Deadpool 3, so hopefully it won't be too long before we see it on the big screen.
