If you're still mourning the Avengers, following the seismic events of Endgame, this piece of exciting news will no doubt bring a smile to your face.

According to reports, Disney has been given planning permission to build an as-yet-unnamed 'Marvel Land' at its California Adventure theme park.

It's understood that the City of Anaheim has officially granted Disneyland numerous permissions for the $14m superhero-themed expansion, which includes retail space, a character meet-and-greet area and even a microbrewery (expected to be Ant-Man themed).

Plans also include improved access to behind-the-scenes areas and more than 2,000 square feet of retail space.

Sadly, however, this signals the end for A Bug's Land - based on Disney's iconic 1998 movie A Bug's Life - which is currently being torn down to make room for the new attraction.

The new attraction is set to open next year.

The attraction closed in September last year and work on its replacement is currently being carried out behind a temporary wall with the words 'Stark Industries' emblazoned across it - the fictitious tech empire led by Iron Man's alter ego, Tony Stark.

Three other Marvel-themed attractions are also in the works, with one set to open next year at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2020, another at Epcot park in Florida in 2021, and one at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2023.

The news comes just a few short weeks after the grand opening of Disney's enormous $1bn Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which has been attracting even bigger crowds.

Dennis Speigel, president of the Ohio-based consulting firm International Theme Park Services, said it was clear the studio was wasting no time in making the most of the franchise's popularity.

Speaking to the LA Times, he said: "They are coming back to capitalise on what's going to be a huge success with Galaxy's Edge.

"It's the right cross and then an uppercut that knocks the market out."

And with Endgame breaking every box office record set before it, raking in more than $2bn, Speigel says it makes sense for the company to try and make the most out of its incredible popularity.

He added: "Marvel has never been hotter than what it is right now and they've got to squeeze as much as they can."

Bosses have not yet confirmed a name for the upcoming attraction, however, because of a series of agreements that were signed before Disney bought the comics giant, it cannot contain the word 'Marvel'.
