The first trailer for The Nun, the long-awaited new spin-off film of The Conjuring, has been released... and it looks creepy AF:

The film's synopsis reads: "When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order's unholy secret.

"Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in The Conjuring 2, as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned."

Directed by Corin Hardy and produced by James Wan (director of The Conjuring films) and Peter Safran, the fright-fest will star Oscar-nominated Demian Bichir as Father Burke, American Horror Story's Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene and Jonas Bloquet as local villager Frenchie.

Other cast members include Charlotte Hope as the abbey's Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu as Sister Oana and Bonnie Aarons - who reprises her Conjuring 2 role as the titular the 'Demon Nun' character Valak.

Fans seem pretty up for it, having seen the trailer.

One person tweeted: "Yes!! I am so ready for this."

"Omg..I can't waittttt," another wrote excitedly.

"THIS LOOKS AMAZING I AM SHAKING," someone else said, adding: "VALAK IS COMING FOR OUR POOR WIGS."

Someone else even labelled it the 'scariest movie of 2018', while another wrote that they were pretty sure they were 'possessed now'.

It's been a good few years now since fans of The Conjuring were gifted with the second installment of the spooky horror franchise - and a year since 2017's Annabelle: Creation, another spin-off that also exists in the same universe as the Warren family.

Well, now Warner Bros. has announced that, along with The Nun, we've got a third Annabelle film on the way, adding that it's due to be with us on 3 July next year.

The Nun is due to open in cinemas on 7 September 2018. Brace yourselves, LADs, it looks like it's going to be a bumpy 12 months...
