If you've ever worked in the service industry, then you will know that the phrase 'the customer is always right' is absolute bullshit. The customer is sometimes right, sometimes they're petty or rude or just a dick.
But, if you work in the service industry, you'll also know you have to bite your tongue. It's your job to be pleasant and polite to make sure they come back, right?
Well, not if you're one of the owners of Amy's Baking Company, who Gordon Ramsay had the pleasure of helping out for his show Kitchen Nightmares.

Wow. I mean, he should have guessed it wasn't going to be your average eatery when he first sat down with the owners, Sammy and Amy.

Amy introduced Sammy as a former Las Vegas playboy - it's all downhill from there, if you can imagine, as she then told Gordon: "We have three little boys, but they're trapped in cat bodies..." before it cuts to a scene of her meowing. At this point, had I been Gordon, I reckon I'd have just said: 'Nah, you know what, this isn't for me.'
However, our man Gordon has seen it all, so he carried on regardless. But what he ended up witnessing was too much, even for him.
It's never nice to have your hard work unappreciated, but when your hard work is a cake, designed to be sold to punters in a restaurant, you've just got to suck it up and take the criticism, haven't you?
Not Amy. "I am going to really hurt someone if they send my cakes back," she said, and you can tell she really meant it - she is definitely the sort of woman who would cut someone over a Victoria sponge, like Mary Berry crossed with Sweeney Todd.
The owners were also taking the waiting staffs' tips, which left Gordon less than impressed. So much so, in fact, that he yelled it all over the restaurant, causing one customer to shout up: "That's horrible!"
Amidst all this, Amy was still screaming at customers: "You little weenie. You keep walking!"
Meanwhile, her other half Sammy managed to give Gordon a run for his money in the f-bomb stakes. Imagine eating here. Imagine working all week and then thinking: 'Fuck it, it's Friday, I'll treat the other half to a nice meal out...' and stumbling into this chaos. Fuck that.

In the end, even Gordon admitted there was nothing he could do, and threw in the towel.
A truly terrible way to run a business, but a fantastic way to make a TV show. Bravo Ramsay.
