WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR GAME OF THRONES EPISODE FOUR

Well, bloody hell. That escalated quickly, didn't it?

After the excitement of the battle between the living and the dead last week, every eye in Westeros turned from Winterfell to the south.

Of course, even once you've got shut of the Night King and his army of skeletal servants you've still got to get rid of Cersei Lannister and her armies - including the frankly hilarious Euron Greyjoy - if you want that Iron Throne.

Luckily, the huge battle last week left most of the major players involved in the race for the throne intact.

So, off south they went...

With respect to Little Lyanna Mormont, Theon Greyjoy, Jorah Mormont, Beric Dondarrion, Melisandre, and Dolorous Edd Tollett, their chances of sitting on the spiky seat were slim to zero.

That should represent a huge warning siren for anyone who is a hardened Game of Thrones fan. To paraphrase the great Eddard Stark, it means that death is coming.

And so it proved.

First off was the dragon Rhaegal. Sure, not a major player with regards to witty dialogue and character development, but definitely a character that we'd all become attached to.

Either way, Drogon is the only dragon left now after his remaining brother quite literally got it in the neck.

Oh crap!

Few character deaths have such importance on strategy and the forthcoming battles as Rhaegal though, that has to be admitted.

Also, is this - plus the other death we'll address in a second - one of the final straws to push Daenerys Targaryen over the edge into 'Mad Queen' territory? We'll have to wait and see.

On to that other death now.

When the Mother of Dragons' fleet was ambushed by Euron Greyjoy's ships on the way to Dragonstone, not only did they reduce the dragon count by one, they also stole Dany's best mate and trusted confidante Missandei.

At the arranged meeting between the two sides of the battle, Cersei did what Cersei does. She had The Mountain lop her head off.

Seriously. Oh crap.

Despite that, she went down screaming 'Dracarys!' and died bravely. Her and Grey Worm will never get to that beach in Naath after all. But we all knew that as soon as they said it, right?

Oh, and this surely sends the odds on Grey Worm getting Cersei's head in revenge plummeting, doesn't it?

Which of the deaths hit you the hardest? Will Dany turn heel and burn every single person in King's Landing to get to Cersei?
