'Game of Thrones' Is On The Hunt For Some New Characters

It's not much, but it's something.

With the long wait for the final ever season of Game Of Thrones dragging on until at least 2019, fans are presumably experiencing some pretty bad withdrawal symptoms by now.

With that in mind, we have to try and keep ourselves going until it is back on our screens with wild speculation, so here we go.

A casting call has been put out by HBO that potentially reveals some details about new characters that will be entering Westeros for the final battles.

They're asking for a 'sassy and attractive' girl from the North, as well as a 'colourful young Northern actor' to play a sentry.

The popular GoT fan site 'Watchers on the Wall' has also revealed that they are in the market for a mercenary. The chosen warrior will be busy filming until June.

The character description says that the show is looking for "an authoritative, fit, cool and charismatic military type" - oh, and of course you'll need to be able to ride a horse.

So, what can we read into that in terms of the actual story? Well, at the end of the last season Euron Greyjoy (played by Danish actor Pilou Asbaek) sailed off into the middle distance in search of the infamous band of 'The Golden Company' on the orders of Cersei Lannister.

You'd assume then that the mercenary role will be one of those guys.

As well as these characters, they are also looking for a "rough and ready seafaring type" - likely to be one of Euron's lads from the Iron Islands.

On top of that, they've asked for actors to play a "straightforward, honest man of simple tastes who works the land". There's not a great deal we can read into that though.

One thing we know for certain is that there will be some fresh locations in the forthcoming season.

As well as their usual filming haunts in Croatia - where the walled city of Dubrovnik plays the part of King's Landing - and Northern Ireland, they have been filming in Spain.

This suggests that there will be some new additions to the famous entrance credits - possibly outside Westeros? As we've discussed, at the minute, it's all wild speculation.

As the TV series left George R.R. Martin's books in the dust some time ago, we have literally no idea what will happen.

All we know is that there will be epic battles, probably some more incest, and a huge, angry ice dragon controlled by the forces of the dead.

What more do you want?
