Game Of Thrones Might Have Staged A Scene To Trick Fans

Game Of Thrones Might Have Staged A Scene To Trick Fans

Or could it be an alternate ending?

This article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8, episode 5, The Bells. Tread carefully friends.

Game of Thrones fans are notoriously keen to avoid spoilers, which is in no way helped by the time difference between the UK and US showings, and obviously the fact that the internet is a thing.

It's also been known to have itself a little leakage problem in the past, with many making their way into the public domain fairly regularly. In fairness, this season has seen way less leaks from cast and crew than previous years - with loads of shocks along the way.

But people think that the lengths to which Game of Thrones makers have gone to to avoid spoilers have exceeded everyone's expectations.

If you cast your mind back to last year, Kit Harington and Lena Headey were seen in Dubrovnik, Croatia. From the untrained eye it may have looked like the pair were filming a scene where Jon Snow and Cersei meet in King's Landing.

Everyone is wondering what Cersei and Jon Snow were doing together.

But as we now know, Cersei died in her brother's arms without ever catching sight of Jon Snow in The Bells - confirming the whole thing was a big fat lie. Well played GoT, well played.

At the time, the pictures threw us all off the scent, and the extent they went to was rather bloody impressive.

Is this scene part of an elaborate plot?

However, now, a new theory has come up - could the scenes have been intended to see the light of day as an alternative ending? Only time will tell (unless it gets leaked of course).

Anything could happen this close to the end of the saga, with only one episode of season eight left to go - but some fans are less than impressed with how it's gone so far.

Although many are claiming it's the best season yet, some fans are really quite pissed off with how the final season has gone.

Some have even gone far enough to say that it has ruined the entire show for them - so much so that they're asking for the whole of season eight to be remade, and there's even a change.org petition to support it - and it's already reached over 797,000.

A very passionate fan called Dylan D is asking HBO to remake the entire season 'with competent writers' instead of Thrones show runners (and future Star Wars bosses) David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

The caption for the petition reads: "David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e., the books) to fall back on."

He continues: "This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

Everyone has an opinion. If you're still reeling from Dany's actions and want to support the cause, you can sign the petition here - although you must be aware it's completely pointless.

What do you think? Did Dany deserve better? Come tell us your opinion at Game of Thrones: Westeros Posting on Facebook.

Game of Thrones concludes on Sky Atlantic at 2am on Monday 20 May, then repeats in the UK and Ireland at 9pm that same day.
