Game Of Thrones Petition Hits One Million Signatures Calling For Season 8 Remake

We're only just getting over the penultimate episode - can we manage this all over again? I'm not sure we can...

We've reached the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones. We waited for what felt like decades and it's finally here, with just one more instalment to go - and people are dreading the hit show coming to an end.

But this dread might not have come about for the reason the production team might have hoped for - at least, not since the creation of a petition demanding a rewrite of Season 8.

Well, guess what? Now a total of ONE MILLION people have signed it. Shit the bed.

Daenerys' abrupt character turn has got everyone talking, but the problem is, opinion is completely split. Many fans seem to have thought it was a great penultimate episode and told social media they couldn't wait to see what happened, while others were left feeling horribly disappointed.

Still, it's pissed off the latter fan group so much that they're demanding the entire season is remade. Really? Another lengthy wait for just six episodes?! No thanks.

A very passionate fan called Dylan D is asking HBO to remake the entire season 'with competent writers' instead of Thrones' current show runners (and future Star Wars bosses) David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

The caption for the petition reads: "David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e., the books) to fall back on."

He continues: "This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

I mean, let's be honest. This is never going to happen is it. Let's look at the facts of the situation.

Firstly, HBO has spent a SHIT LOAD of money on this season - and by that I mean $90 million (£70.7m). That is $15 million (£11.7m) per episode (say whaaaa?). And imagine paying the cast again? Where would that money come from?

Also, you can never make everyone happy. It's a fact of life - the world would be a boring place if we all agreed on everything. So, even if it did so happen that by some weird stroke of luck they decided to just scrap the whole thing and remake it, people would still find something to be pissed off about.

One thing is for certain, whether you like it or not, Daenerys Targaryen still has a massive role to play.

What do you think: should it be remade or not? Come tell us your opinion at Game of Thrones: Westeros Posting on Facebook quickly, before it finishes and it's too late.

Game of Thrones concludes on Sky Atlantic at 2am on Monday 20 May, then repeats in the UK and Ireland at 9pm that same day.
