The countdown is on until the final season of Game of Thrones finally hits our screens, and just to get us all that bit more excited, HBO CEO Richard Plepler has told audiences that each new episode is like 'watching a movie'. Six of them, in fact.

Although fans may have been initially disappointed to find out there are only six episodes in season 8 - well yeah, the mighty Breaking Bad gave us 16 episodes in its last series - Plepler was quick to assure them that we're all in for a treat.

Obviously, the man at the top has already had a look at the new series (lucky bastard) and told Variety in an interview: "It's a spectacle. The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, 'I'm watching a movie.'"

This is pretty much what fans have been waiting for, right? And with director David Nutter already having confirmed that each episode will be feature-length, it looks like we're in for a truly cinematic experience.

Plepler couldn't help but compliment the hard work of the production team after viewing the upcoming season.

When talking about showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, he enthused: "They knew the bar was high. They've exceeded the bar. I've watched them twice without any CGI and I'm in awe. Everybody's in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production."

Even with the idea of each one being like watching a film, I wouldn't get your heart set on a beginning-middle-conclusion kind of storyline. This is Game of Thrones, after all - so heartbreak, deaths and loads of cliffhangers are extremely likely.

This isn't the only exciting hint HBO has dropped to pique the curiosity of eager fans - only this week the network finally dropped a tiny a new teaser to give us a glimpse into season 8 of the show.

The trail features a five-second clip showing the moment Daenerys meets Sansa - which is always expected to be a true fire-meets-ice moment.

It shows Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, approaching Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) in Winterfell - which we all know belongs to the Starks, and has been theirs for thousands of years.

There must've been some kind of deal brokered here because in the trailer Sansa is seen saying to Daenerys: "Winterfell is yours, your Grace."

Only four months to go until GOT hits our screens. Get excited.
