Gru From Despicable Me Saying ‘Gorl’ Is Now A Meme

Most of you will know Gru, if you don't, you really should. He's one of the main characters from a great film. Not great as in Shawshank or Forrest Gump - but seriously, watch it.

For those who don't know, here's a quick summary - Gru features in the Despicable Me movies. He's a 'supervillian', in to all things just plain evil.

He's surrounded by an army of little yellow minions, otherwise known as those annoying teddies in literally EVERY grabbing machine.

In a quest to steal the moon (yes, really) Gru comes across three orphans and basically he turns into a huge melt. It's just plain beautiful.

Told you.

But probably the best thing to come from the films, even better than Gru's secret hideout, is the memes that have surfaced.

Gru has a thick accent from the land of make believe but it causes him to pronounce the word 'girls' as 'gorls'.

And it's currently taking over Twitter in the form of a million hilarious memes.

The hard-faced, pointy-nosed (initial) baddie at the centre of the franchise, voiced by Steve Carell, is being superimposed onto various memes, including Katy Perry's purple-tinged curls in the video of California Girls - or gorls.

And the best thing? All this fuss came from this one typo.

And this was what followed.

Yes, that is Avril Lavigne in the video of Sk8er Boi. Told you it was great. It didn't stop there either, you'll be pleased (or not) to know.

One for Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid. In other words, ABBA, who have announced that they will be reuniting to make new music if you didn't already know.

Back to the memes anyway.

There was always going to be an Ed Sheeran, the bloke's everywhere.

We think Rhi-Rhi would be rather proud of that one. And if this hasn't made everyone want to watch Despicable Me then nothing ever will.
