HBO Is Making Another 'Game Of Thrones' Prequel

A fifth writer has been recruited in the shape of Bryan Cogman to develop the series.

It looks like the Game of Thrones hype is never going to die. Never ever, ever. Ever. Ever. As HBO has officially announced that it is working on a fifth 'prequel' series.

It had previously been confirmed that four prequels were in development, however, Mr GOT George RR Martin claimed that there was also a fifth.

When Martin initially spoke about a fifth writer being recruited back in May, he said that he did not know anyone who loved Westeros, the fictional world in which GOT is set, as much as himself and "Thrones" experts Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson.

And it turns out the man he was talking about was none other than the legend that is Bryan Cogman. In case you're not aware of Cogman, he is the man who has worked on the show in a few capacities over the years. He was most recently a writer and co-executive producer.

Cogman wrote 'Stormborn', the second episode of the last series, and 'The Broken Man', the seventh episode of season six, which saw the introduction of Lyanna Mormont.

Although we don't know much about the prequel, Martin has said that they are not spin-offs and therefore none of the current cast will be featured. Robert's Rebellion will not be the subject of any of the series either.

Sadly for fans who hate having to wait to find out how the show will develop, it looks like it'll be unlikely we'll get any huge leaks from the new shows. Following hacks ahead of season seven, the show's producers came up with a genius plan to make sure the ending stays secret until episodes air.

According to the Morning Call, HBO programming president Casey Bloys gave a talk at Moravian College recently in which he said: "I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens.

"You have to do that on a long show. Because when you're shooting something, people know. So, they're going to shoot multiple versions so that there's no real definitive answer until the end."

Showrunner Dan Weiss was so secretive he wouldn't confirm plans were in place for multiple endings, commenting: "We don't even want to tell you because if we do then somebody will figure out how to circumvent the things that we're doing."

Who likes spoilers anyway?
