Samara from The Ring is one of the world's most iconic characters in cinematic history, having haunted horror fans since the film's release in 2002.
The film, which was directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson, David Dorfman, and Brian Cox, was a remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film Ring based on the novel of the same name by Koji Suzuki.

The first installment of a series, it was later followed up by The Ring Two in 2005 and Rings in 2017.
Fast forward 16 years later and the actress who played Samara, Daveigh Chase, is now 28 years old - and, it seems, a lot can change in that time.
Unsurprisingly (and thankfully) she's looking completely unrecognisable from her days sporting creepy, long black hair and white dresses, as you can see from her Instagram feed.

But outside of social media, there's more to the story, as Chase was reportedly recently charged for possession of a controlled substance, with a judge also issuing a warrant for her arrest.
According to The Blast, Chase was hit with two misdemeanour charges of possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia on 6 November.
Because of these charges, Chase is now reportedly facing a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. The judge has also ordered a warrant for Chase for any law officials should they come into contact with her.
She was arrested by the LAPD Hollywood back in August this year, when she was apparently booked into a jail and spent two hours locked up before being release on a $1,000 bond.

Then in November 2017, Chase was jailed after police puller her over for allegedly joyriding in a stolen car, booking her on a felony charge of driving in a car without the owner's consent.
