Is it worth the wait?

A horror movie that took a staggering 15 years and $6million (£4.6million) to create has finally been released, but the story behind the film is even more bizarre than the flick.

Andrew Getty began shooting The Evil Within way back in 2002, after inheriting millions from his oil tycoon granddad.

The film is reported to have cost Andrew between $4million (£3.1million) and $6million (£4.6million) of his own cash, took five long years to shoot, and spent 10 years in post-production.

The film focuses on a boy who begins to talk to his own reflection, only for it to become a demon who haunts his dreams telling him to kill. When that doesn't work, the demon goes on to slowly torture the boy, psychologically, to get what it wants. Its reported to be based on Andrew's nightmares from his childhood.

As you can probably gather, Andrew was borderline obsessive of his film. He spent piles of cash doing weird shit, like building his own camera rigs and animatronics and then painstakingly laboured over the post-production process.

Sadly, for Andrew, he would never get a chance to see the final film, because he died from an ulcer-related gastrointestinal hemorrhage as a result of years of crystal meth abuse. He was just 46 years old.

Producer Michael Luceri finished the film and was able to finally show the world Andrew's masterpiece.

Luceri told the Hollywood Reporter: "He was a good guy, but also obsessively creative and obsessed with creativity.

"Where that came from, I don't know. It's a gift, but sometimes it can be too overwhelming."

And after looking at the trailer, well, what can I say? I'm not going to go in on the life's work of a dead man. So, I'll just say, it's a bit underwhelming, isn't it?

I'm a big fan of these low-rent horrors, so I will definitely be giving this a watch. We could be looking at the next Sharknado here, guys.
