Netflix has just released the official trailer for the very last season of House of Cards and it looks pretty intense / binge-watch material.

Kevin Spacey's character, American politician Frank Underwood, has been killed off following numerous allegations of sexual assault against the actor.

Soon after the accusations from fellow actor Anthony Rapp, Netflix announced that the sixth season would be the final one and wouldn't feature his character.

According to Radio Times, it was announced in December that the show would resume production in 2018 with Robin Wright taking over the lead role.

She plays Frank Underwood's wife who took on the role of the first female President of the United States at the end of Season 5. She isn't messing around either, as the trailer gives us a glimpse.

"The first female president of the United States is not going to keep her mouth shut," she explains, adding: "I'm not going to be told what to do anymore, Doug. Not be you, or any man, ever again".

The trailer ends with Doug Stamper, who was Frank's White House Chief of Staff, being asked 'who do you fear most', his reply: "Her".

The political drama was Netflix's first proper push into original programmes, with its massive success helping to pave the way for further Originals.

Season 6 of House of Cards will be available on Netflix from November 2.

There have been mixed feelings from fans about Spacey's character being axed from the show. One said: "No Kevin Spacey then, for me HOC is finished with season 5".

Another added: "@HouseofCards is a disaster without #FrankUnderwood! WE MISS @KevinSpace".

But a third commented: "I am so READY. FOR. THIS. SEASON.!!! #TEAMCLAIREUNDERWOOD"

Shunned actor Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct by Rapp, with the alleged events dating from when the Star Trek: Discovery actor was just 14 years old.

This was followed by another raft of sexual assault allegations dating to his time working on House of Cards.

Spacey then released a statement expressing his 'sincerest apology', and also took the opportunity to announce that he is gay - a move that many thought insensitive to the LGBTQ community and designed to distract from the claims made against him.

When Netflix cut ties with Spacey, a statement was released saying: "Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show."
