Clowns Go On 'This Morning' To Slate 'It' And Phil's Reaction Is Priceless

Clowns Go On 'This Morning' To Slate 'It' And Phil's Reaction Is Priceless

They're not going to take 'It' lying down.

It's the news that no clown wants to hear: "We're going to have to let you go son," followed by a *honk honk*. He steps out of his big clown shoes and undoes his big clown bow-tie. Tears run from his clown eyes, the make-up runs down his clown cheeks, smudging the big clown smile on his face and turning it into a big clown frown. He'll be riding his mini-clown bicycle down to the job centre next week. Did he put in all those years at clown college just for this?

Finally, he takes off his his nose: clowning just ain't what it it used to be. While this may sound funny to some, it could be the lived experience of clowns each day thanks to one film...

Following its release on Friday, it's feared that new movie It could be ruining the career of children's entertainers. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter claims that several professional clowns are getting less and less gigs thanks to coulrophobia - a fear of clowns - which could potentially have first been triggered by the Stephen King adaptation.

And as you can probably tell from the above video, the clowns aren't taking it lightly.

Professionals Rob Bowker and Andrew Davies claimed on ITV's This Morning that Pennywise is not a real clown. But their savage claims didn't end there.

"It's not a clown," Bowker said.

"What it is, is a horror movie, and he's immortal and he has to feed every 27 years and he morphs into many different beings - the clown being one of them.

"The little boy you seeing dragged down the drain, he morphs into him at one point to fool his bigger brother Billy into following him."

He added: "But it's nothing to do with clowning and everything to do with a cheap Hollywood movie that's taken millions of pounds.

"Because they don't need Brad Pitt, they don't need Tom Cruise. The guy that's playing the clown - never heard of him."

Never make a clown angry

Phillip Schofield pointed out the film had made $117 million (£88.7m) in the US alone over the weekend but Bowker was not deterred.

"It's a cheap budget movie, poor CGI graphics. I reckon the guy who invented the Fidget Spinner has also done this film - they've spent as little money as possible for maximum effect."

Big, big words - but Phil's smirk said it all.
