New Interactive Netflix Series Puts Bear Grylls' Survival In Your Hands

It's going to be a bit like Bandersnatch, but with Bear Grylls doing his thing

There's a reason why the general public rarely get the chance to control the fate of celebrities, and that's because we can't be trusted - remember when we voted for Gillian McKeith to do the bushtucker trial over and over again on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!?

But now, through the magic of interactive TV, adventurer Bear Grylls' fate will be placed in your hands in a new Netflix series.

You vs. Wild is comprised of eight episodes and puts you the viewer in charge of making the crucial decisions along Bear's quest: left or right, stay still or run away, pitch your tent or hollow out a camel and sleep inside it...

Grylls made his name through his survival TV shows, in which he uses his wealth of knowledge and skills to get by in brutal environments. The key difference here is that you are responsible for making those big decisions - even though you presumably have no clue what to do when surrounded by wolves or dangling above a ravine.

But obviously, every outcome is prerecorded, so there is a limit to just how much you can fuck over Bear.

Evidently, he survived the making of the programme, as he announced his excitement about the series in a tweet.

He said: "This is going to be a journey unlike any I've EVER embarked on before. I need YOU to think ahead, choose wisely, and most importantly, never give up."

Netflix broke the mould in December with Charlie Brooker's Bandersnatch, an interactive show which viewers guided through their decisions - and which went around and around maddeningly depending on the choices you made.

This latest release follows the trend and will no doubt provide answers to some much Googled questions, i.e. 'what to do if lost in the wild with Bear Grylls?'

Netflix also teased the show through a series of interactive trailers, in which you decide whether or not to join Bear on his latest adventure - very clever, Netflix.

The show is available to stream from 10 April.
