Ah, the classic horror story which centres on a haunted house. While it's a story told differently many times by various people, this new version is downright terrifying. The next instalment to the Insidious franchise goes back even further than the third movie, which was a prequel to the first two films.
It will apparently follow Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), in New Mexico, when she starts to be haunted by a 'malevolent and demonic spirit' in her own house. But she returns years later when a new resident reports strange things happening.
While that doesn't sound all that scary, watch the trailer and get back to me.

It's hard to really pinpoint what the hell the monster is in this film, other than the fact that it has keys for fingers, which can be inserted into people to unlock God knows what.
Before Insidious: Chapter 3 was released, writer Leigh Whannell was asked by We Got This Covered whether a fourth movie was on the cards. Leigh said: "I don't know. I haven't really thought about it yet. But for the purposes of this interview, I'll say that I'd like to explore the time between this film and the first film.
"That whole area there where Elise has rediscovered her gift, I think you could have a lot of adventures before she arrives.

"So I think there is a lot of room there. We've kind of established Lin [Shaye] in this particular film as kind of this superhero, so that would be kind of interesting to explore in the other films."

If you need any convincing on how scary this movie could be, just look at the people behind the camera. James Wan directed or produced the first two instalments, before creating The Conjuring franchise, Saw, Annabelle: Creation and a host of other intense films.
The latest Insidious movie will also be released under the Blumhouse production company, which was also in charge of critically acclaimed Get Out, The Purge and The Visit.

There are nearly 200 films about haunted houses, with some being absolute flops and others being enshrined in the genre's unofficial Hall of Fame. Some of those include The Shining, The Amityville Horror and Paranormal Activity.
There's no word on whether there will be a fifth instalment to the Insidious franchise, but we'll have to wait and see how the new film ends and whether Mr Whannell leaves the door open for more possibilities.
The film will be released on January 12 2018.
