ITV has announced that The Bay is to return for a second series.
The crime drama, set in the coastal Lancashire town of Morecambe, stars Morven Christie as Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong.
However, we don't know who else will be returning to the show just yet. We'll get a bit more information about that when the filing commences later this year, no doubt.
The decision to renew the series for a second run was announced on the official ITV Twitter account. A tweet said: "Solving cases is all in a day's work for Detective Lisa Armstrong. We're pleased to confirm #TheBay will return to @ITV for series 2."
In addition to that, ITV's head of drama Polly Hill added: "I am delighted with the audience response to The Bay.
"It's very real and beautifully made by everyone involved, and as a result it held an audience of 7 million across 6 weeks.I think that audience will enjoy seeing where Daragh [writer Daragh Carville] takes Lisa and the team, when they return with a new case for series 2 next year."
The show's executive producer Catherine Oldfield also said: "We are so thrilled that The Bay found such a large audience and that the fantastic world and characters brought to life by Daragh Carville will be returning to ITV,
"It was an incredible production, shot in a beautiful location and thanks to ITV's belief in the story we wanted to tell, we get to do it all over again."
After the first series ended in something of an anti-climax in the eyes of some viewers, it will be interesting to see what the people returning for series two will do for their second outing.
You see, the last series wrapped up the murder of Dylan Meredith being resolved in a way that left some fans of the show a bit cold.
It turned out that Dylan died after hitting his head during a fight with Sam Hesketh. That was something of a disappointment to those who had invested a lot of time into the show.
Some also thought that they didn't get any closure, with DS Armstrong suspended from the force after concealing some important (and embarrassing) evidence, and Sean - Dylan's stepdad - facing a lengthy prison sentence for his drugs-related offences.
Anyway, you'd have to imagine that they'll set about answering a few of those questions in the second series.
It'll most likely appear on ITV at some point in 2020.
