It has been announced that Jamie Foxx will play legendary boxer Mike Tyson in a film about the controversial star's life.

Tyson, now 51, dominated boxing for 20 years from 1985 to 2005, winning 50 of his 58 professional bouts, 44 of which came via knockout.

'The Baddest Man on the Planet' held many titles, though his career didn't come without a few shocks, most notably when he bit a chunk of Evander Holyfield's ear off in 1997, as well as being convicted of rape in 1992.

Now, Iron Mike has revealed the news that Foxx will play him in a biopic.

"It's on, as of right now. Jamie Foxx has signed on for it. Filming hasn't started yet but it's going to happen," he said in Las Vegas.

Martin Scorsese is also reported to be involved in the production of the film, though as of yet there is no confirmation of this.

Mike Tyson's Career Defining Moments

What's for sure is that the documentation of Tyson's life won't be an easy watch, as although he lit up the world of boxing, there have been some shocking things happen behind the scenes.

"A lot of people aren't going to like the things I've done in my life," Tyson said.

According to the Sun, a movie source revealed: "Jamie went to a couple of sessions with his trainer in the gym for this movie.

"He looked quite good throwing a few jabs and crosses against the pads. But when he tried a bit of sparring, he didn't fare so well.

"He took a couple of hooks and walked out. He knows if he wants to play Iron Mike then he needs to improve that side of his game."

They added: "Mike knows it is Jamie's dream to play him and they have talked about gym work and how he could put him through his paces.

"The only thing is that if they go sparring and Mike connects, Jamie may never make any movie again."

Is Foxx a good fit for the role?
